The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) in Mogale City under the leadership of councillor Lydia Lebesa shared soup on Nelson Mandela Day at Odirile Maponya Clinic.

Nelson Mandela International Day is celebrated annually on the 18th of July to remember the great deeds and contributions done by the late Nelson Mandela. Not only was he a hero for South Africa but he touched the lives of others across the world.

The theme for this year is: “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity”. The leadership of ACDP Mogale City believes in doing little things for the community with great love such as sharing soup with the hungry and disadvantaged. Although this act of kindness may not combat poverty nor inequality, but it makes a difference and puts a smile on people’s faces.

Councillor Lebesa said that people wake up early in the morning to queue up at clinics and spend the whole day without eating a single meal until they are done. She said, “The soup will at least be a good way to start the day at the clinic. We do not have a lot to give but this soup will go a long way. We trust that this will be the first of many contributions to our community. We plan to do this more often because we saw how grateful our people were.”
The people lined up for soup and others came for seconds. The soup was hearty and filled the stomachs of those hungry individuals. They were grateful and happy for the thoughtful gesture.

An elderly woman shared her appreciation by saying, “I am grateful for the soup. I was feeling very hungry and shaky. We take so long at the clinic and this soup will sustain me until I go home. Thank you ACDP!”
The gesture to share soup was a good contribution marking a significant 67 minutes of service to the community of Kagiso by the ACDP in Mogale City.
Thank you ACDP its through leaders like you that we need in our community who will put our people first we pray that you can bring more projects like these our people are in great need phambili ACDP you don’t think of our people when you need their votes but you think of them during time like these God bless you
This may appear as a small gesture but in the eyes of the recepients is is quite significant.
May such gestures be the beginning of big things.
