Mogale City Local Municipality has issued a public alert warning resident to beware of scam activities targeting the community. Fraudsters are impersonating municipal officials and tricking people into paying fake fees or sharing personal details.
The municipality urges all Gauteng residents and Mogale City community members to stay vigilant and verify all information before making any payment or responding to suspicious messages.
Payments, Only Pay at Official Points
According to Mogale City, the municipality will never ask for upfront fees or banking details over the phone or WhatsApp.
Payments are only accepted at official municipal pay points or through EFT, with Mogale City listed as a public beneficiary at all major banks.
No official is allowed to request money through calls, text messages, or social media.
Recruitment, No Fees for Job Applications
The municipality does not charge for job applications, interviews, or credit checks.
Residents should only trust positions advertised on official platforms such as the Mogale City website (www.mogalecity.gov.za), verified municipal social media pages, and national newspapers.
Any job listing shared through WhatsApp groups or unofficial Facebook pages should be treated with caution.
Credit Control, Follow Due Process
Municipal officials cannot disconnect services without following legal procedures.
Any genuine credit control action is always preceded by a 7-day written notice bearing the Mogale City logo, hand-delivered to your property.
The municipality warns residents not to pay anyone who claims they can prevent disconnections or speed up reconnections.
Advertisements, RDP Houses Are Not for Sale
All jobs, tenders, and quotations are published only through the municipality’s official platforms or in recognized newspapers.
The municipality emphasised that RDP houses are never sold, as they are provided free of charge through the Gauteng Provincial Government.
Residents are urged to ignore anyone claiming to sell or fast-track RDP allocations.
Protect Your Community
Mogale City continues to prioritize transparency, accountability, and community safety.
Residents are encouraged to verify suspicious messages and report fraudulent activity directly to the municipality.
“Stay alert, stay informed, and protect your money. Let’s stop scammers together.”
